HOW AN AUTOMOTIVE FINANCIAL SERVICE LEADER MODERNIZED IT’S WORKFORCE RISK MANAGEMENT

A national auto financing firm, operating in a security-sensitive environment, needed a continuous background screening solution.

With more than 7,000 employees across the United States, the organization needed a scalable way to know immediately, through instant digital notification, when an arrest or major criminal event might impact an employee in a sensitive role. Legacy monitoring programs were limited by state-level data gaps, lagging information, and manual review, which left risk and compliance teams without timely or complete visibility.

The large finance company partnered with Trua and its Trua-CE™ (Continuous Evaluation) solution to implement an ongoing background screening framework that delivered real-time alerts, nationwide coverage, and stronger compliance without adding IT complexity.

SITUATION

The auto financier was looking to maintain a strong security posture while also enabling its ability to monitor employee activity in areas such as, arrests, significant criminal, or civil events, which might have occurred sometime following their original hire date. In addition, the company’s existing screening solution did not fully cover all states, creating gaps in visibility for a geographically distributed workforce. The organization needed a reliable third-party risk review and a seamless APl-based connection to its internal systems to maintain strict financial and governmental compliance.

TASK

  • Implement reliable employee ID verification as the baseline for accurate monitoring.
  • Deploy continuous background screening nationwide for more than 7,000 employees.
  • Close the data gaps in select states while aligning with all relevant financial and regulatory requirements.

ACTION

The auto financing firm deployed Trua-CE via an API, enabling a secure connection between Trua’s platform and its internal HR and security tools with minimal IT lift. Trua-CE delivered real-time alerts on criminal, traffic, and civil events, covering bookings, jail and arrest records, court dockets, judgments, and pre-foreclosure actions. This information was paired with historical look-backs to better assess risk over time.
