Privacy Policy

Trua is all about protecting your privacy. A key guiding principle and motivation for the creation of Trua is to put people in control of their personal information and to protect the privacy of that information. You own your personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information. Trust is the heart of the Trua product.

Trua web-based applications including without limitation, TruaID, and TruaScore, (“the Application”) and which contains information (“Information”), collectively the Services (“Services”). This Privacy Policy covers how Trua handles personal data when you interact with us via the Application.

No. We never sell your personal information.. 

Your personal information includes personally identifiable information that can be used to distinguish or trace an individual’s identity, such as name, social security number, biometrics, etc. which alone or when combined with other personal or identifying information identifies a specific individual/subscriber.

We may use cookies on our web-based application to improve your experience and better serve you. The cookies save information about your visit, like when you visited and what you clicked on. The cookies may also save information about your computer or other device. We may use pixels on this app. In connection with cookies, pixels identify what app content you have already seen.

When you decide to register and subscribe for a Trua account we collect registration information including: name, address, date of birth, phone number and last four digits of your social security number. In some cases we may ask you to enter your entire social security number. This information will be used by us to create your Trua profile and score and only as authorized by you. In providing the Trua Services, we use this information to search third party databases and court records. Results of these searches are presented to you for confirmation and are used for identity verification and fraud prevention and determining your score. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

During the registration process you will be asked to scan your U.S. State Driver’s License and take a selfie via your smartphone camera during the secure registration session. Trua’s face-recognition technology will compare your biometric data as provided by your selfie to the photograph on your license. This is done for the purposes of your identity verification and to prevent fraud. We securely store the selfie using secure commercial practices such as encryption and restricted access controls. We may use a third party during the selfie identity verification step but the third party does not retain the data and will delete the information within 90 days after the verification process. Your image will be shown as a part of your score profile that you may choose to share at your sole discretion. You as the Owner and subscriber control who to share your score with, when and for how long. 

Trua will retain this registration information for the life of your account. We delete the biometric data when you request to close and delete your account. After your biometric data is destroyed, you will need to re-register (and provide your biometric data again) before you can obtain a Trua profile again. 

Payment history information will be retained in accordance with applicable law.

We and our third-party data providers use this information to respond to your requests and use of the Services. In your use of the Trua Application, we do not share your Trua profile and associated high level information without your explicit consent. You are in control of sharing your TruaID or TruaScore.

We may use third party during the selfie identification process as mentioned above.

Trua may share your personal information with our data provider partners to validate your identity and obtain information about your background or as required by law (e.g., in response to a subpoena). We use Stripe and its affiliates to process transactions (including payment transactions) for you. 

California Consumer Privacy Act Notice If you are a resident of California, you may have the right under applicable law to make certain requests about the personal information we maintain about you, and to whom we disclose it. Personal information we collect includes personal identifiers, customer records, and Internet activity. We may use your personal information for business purposes. These include: performing services, security, debugging/repair, auditing, internal research, and quality and safety maintenance and verification. We also may use your personal information for our own commercial purposes and/or to comply with law.

Your rights include:

(1) Request disclosure of use or sharing: You have the right under applicable law to request a copy of the following regarding your personal information: (a) The categories of personal information we collected about you; (b) The categories of sources from which the personal information is collected; (c) The business or commercial purpose for collecting or selling the personal information; (d) The categories of third parties with whom we share personal information; and (e) The specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.

(2) Request deletion of personal information: You have the right under applicable law to request that we delete your personal information (subject to certain exceptions).

(3) Right to object to sales: To the extent we sell or share your personal information with third parties (excluding service providers, facilitating transactions, legal purposes and other such circumstances), you have the right under applicable law to direct us not to do so. Currently, we do not sell or share personal information in a way that would give you a right to opt out.
